Run For Your Lives. It’s Signapalooza!

With each election comes a phenomenon I like to call Signapalooza. Political signs are everywhere. On front lawns, in front of businesses, by schools, and especially at busy intersections.
And it is not just for the big national elections like this year with Obama and McCain. Local elections for sheriff, school boards, city council, judges, high school class presidents and on and on and on all use these types of signs to cover every available square foot of dirt.
You would think that big cities would be immune from Signapalooza because of a lack of soft ground to stick them into. Nope. Vinyl banners are hung from the railings of balconies outside of windows. Signapalooza knows NO bounds and can not be stopped by any concrete jungle. There are even sites where you can design you own banners for your favorite candidate online within seconds.
This year is no different with and street banners everywhere. I even saw ones for the Presidential race on the highway. The highway! How in the world could anyone see them going 70 miles an hour?!
Either way it always makes me laugh at many of these signs dominate every street around this time of the year. The creative lengths people will go to get the best placement for their candidate’s sign borders on fanatical.
What other unique places have you seen these signs in your area?

What I never understand is who they think these signs are actually influencing. I mean does ANYONE make their decision because they saw a sign on the side of the road? Of course not.

The signs are subconsciously influential because it creates a brand name for the candidate. So when you go to the ballot box and you see someones name that was posted all over peoples lawns there is a better chance you will vote for them.

Thats right, Signs are best way to get name recognition. Its like any company brand. People see the mcdonalds arches and instantly think cheeseburger, its the same concept.
